Common flipping mistakes (and how to avoid them)
Old prices, forgotten taxes, low demand and risky transport: what goes wrong most often.
Updated October 2026
Trusting old prices
The most common mistake. Prices move through the day and community data lags. Before buying, check the price in game. At Builds Forge we ignore prices older than 3 days, and always show the update date.
Forgetting selling costs
A 5% margin can vanish after the tax and the order fee. Do the maths with the real in-game values and look at the final profit, not just the price difference.
Buying items nobody wants
A cheap item nobody buys sits there tying up your silver. Prefer items that sell often, even with smaller margins.
Risking more than you can lose
Do not put all your silver into one flip or one trip. Spread the risk and increase volume as you confirm it works.
