Best professions for each class in WoW Forever
You can only have two primary professions, so the pair you pick should fit your class. Below is our pick for each class, for leveling and for level 60, plus what each profession adds at a campsite, where WoW Forever gave every profession a job for the group.
How to choose
While leveling, two gathering professions are almost always the best choice: Herbalism, Mining or Skinning cost nothing to level, never slow you down and give you gold to pay for training and your mount.
At 60, switch one of them for a crafting profession that makes your own gear or the consumables you use in raids. By then you have the gold to buy the materials you need.
Secondary professions are for everyone. Cooking, First Aid and Fishing do not count towards your two, and each one also gives a campsite object, so learn all three.
What each profession brings to a campsite
A Basic Campfire from Cooking holds up to three objects, one per player, and anyone who sits nearby for a minute gets their buffs for an hour. The first objects unlock at skill 20; better ones drop in dungeons and raids from skill 140.
Blacksmithing: Sharpening Wheel (Strength). Tailoring: Faction Banner (Spirit). Herbalism: Incense Candle (Intellect). Enchanting: Enchanted Lute (armor, stats and resistances). Skinning: Camp Chair (2% crit). Alchemy: Mana Well (mana regeneration). Leatherworking: Camp Tent (rested experience). Engineering: Reagent Bot, which sells reagents.
From the secondary professions: First Aid Kit (Stamina) and the Fishing object, which gives 8% to all stats. Each buff does not stack with the class buff it copies, such as Arcane Intellect or Mark of the Wild, so a camp matters most for groups that lack those classes.
Warrior and Paladin
Leveling: Mining and Skinning. Both are easy to level alongside quests and sell well early on.
At 60: Mining and Blacksmithing. You make your own plate and weapons, several Blacksmithing recipes now drop from dungeon bosses, and the Sharpening Wheel gives Strength to every melee in your camp. A Paladin healer can choose Herbalism and Alchemy instead, for raid potions and the Mana Well.
Hunter, Rogue and Shaman
Leveling: Skinning plus Mining or Herbalism. You kill a lot of beasts, and every corpse you skin is gold.
At 60: Skinning and Leatherworking. You make your own leather and mail gear, Leatherworking gained many new recipes, and its Camp Tent and the Camp Chair from Skinning help any group. For PvP, Engineering adds gadgets.
Rogue extra: Pick Pocket and opening lockboxes with Pick Lock make gold without a profession, and stealth lets you reach herbs and ore guarded by mobs.
Mage, Priest and Warlock
Leveling: Herbalism and Mining, or Tailoring from the start, because cloth drops from humanoids all the time and you can make your own bags and robes.
At 60: Tailoring and Enchanting. You turn cloth into gear, use Disenchant on the greens you do not need and enchant your own items and your friends'. The Faction Banner adds Spirit at camp, and Enchanting's Enchanted Lute is one of the strongest camp buffs.
Alternative: Herbalism and Alchemy for your own raid potions and elixirs; the Incense Candle gives Intellect to casters when no Mage is around.
Druid
Leveling: Herbalism and Skinning. With Travel Form you move between herbs faster than anyone, and as a cat you skin what you kill.
At 60: a Feral Druid fits Skinning and Leatherworking for its leather gear; a Balance or Restoration Druid fits Herbalism and Alchemy, which pairs with Druid healing and supplies the raid with potions.
Races with profession bonuses
Tauren have Cultivation, which gathers a herb without Herbalism: it needs a character level equal to the herb's Herbalism requirement divided by 5 and has a 15-minute cooldown. It frees a profession slot for a Tauren who wants herbs now and then.
Gnome have Engineering Specialization, which makes Engineering the natural choice for a Gnome, especially in PvP.
Legacy's Bountiful Harvest increases the materials you get from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning, so heavy gatherers should spend points there.
Quick picks
Fastest leveling and most gold early: two gathering professions. Your own gear at 60: the crafting profession that matches your armor. Raid consumables: Herbalism and Alchemy. PvP: Engineering with Mining.
