Albion Online beginner's guide: what to do after the tutorial
Tutorial, starter city, safe zones, your first silver and the most common beginner mistakes.
Updated October 2026
There are no classes in Albion
Albion Online has no classes. Your role depends on the gear you wear, and the weapon is what decides most of the skills you get. You can play a tank one day and a healer the next, just by swapping pieces.
So at the start you are free to experiment. There is only one rule: don't risk gear you can't replace.
Finish the tutorial first
The tutorial teaches the essentials (combat, gathering and the market) and gives rewards that help you get going. Finishing it gives you 3 days of free Premium, which boosts fame and silver gains and is worth using. Rewards change with patches, so check in the game what you actually receive.
Afterwards, follow the starting objectives the game suggests: they walk you through the main activities without having to decide everything at once.
Choose your starter city calmly
Your starter city doesn't tie you down forever, but it gives you a type of resource nearby right away and connects you to a royal city. If you have friends in the game, pick the same city so you can play together. If not, choose by the resource you prefer to gather.
The guide Albion Online royal cities and refining bonuses explains what each city does.
Stay in the safe zones
Blue and yellow zones are the safest, and that's where you should stay until you have tier 4 gear. In red and black zones, anyone who dies loses what they are wearing and carrying.
Only go in with gear you can replace several times and, ideally, with a group. All the details are in Albion Online zones: blue, yellow, red and black.
Your first silver
In the first few days, silver comes from gathering resources with low-tier tools and selling what you don't need. It is slow but safe, and it teaches you how to use the market.
Try to build up a reserve before you spend on better gear. A good target is 50k to 100k silver, roughly: the goal is to never be unable to replace what you lose. The guide How to make silver in Albion Online: the main paths compares the methods.
Cheap, replaceable gear
Pick a cheap, flexible build and always keep more than one set, so you don't stop playing when you lose one.
On Builds Forge, each build page shows the cost per server and the budget version, which swaps expensive pieces for alternatives that win almost as much. The guide How to save silver: tiers, enchantments and the budget version explains how.
Mount and mule
A mount is one of the first things worth buying: you move faster and carry more. During the tutorial you get access to a mule that helps with weight and speed.
Start with a simple, cheap mount, and only move to a better one when transport is really a problem.
Fame, the Destiny Board and Learning Points
Everything you do earns fame, and fame fills the nodes of the Destiny Board, the game's progression system. Learning Points are used to unlock things inside it.
A common tip is to save Learning Points for the important unlocks (such as gathering and crafting) and let the basic levels rise on their own with use. The guide How to gain fame in Albion Online: the best methods helps you level up faster.
Common beginner mistakes
- Taking expensive gear into red or black zones.
- Going alone into risky zones.
- Spending silver on cosmetics before you have a reserve.
- Forgetting that repairing gear also costs silver.
- Buying or selling at the first price you see without comparing cities.
How Builds Forge helps you
Once you know where you want to play, open the Meta Builds for your type of content and pick a build with a cost you can afford. In the Market you see the prices of every item by tier and enchantment, and in community builds you can save and share your own.
To start without rushing: tutorial, safe zones, a cheap build, a silver reserve and only then the risky zones.
