How to make silver in Albion Online: the main paths
Gathering, refining and the market: what pays off at each stage and how to measure profit after taxes.

Silver drives the game
Almost everything in Albion Online costs silver: repairing gear, placing market orders, buying builds and mounts, and later even land. So even players who prefer combat need a steady source of silver.
There are three main paths: gathering resources, refining them or crafting gear, and buying and reselling on the market. Almost everything you gather or make can be sold. What changes between paths is the capital you need, the risk and the time.
Start with gathering
Gathering is the simplest way in: you need no capital, and the tutorial teaches you to gather the four classic resources (wood, ore, hide and fiber) and to craft the tools.
After the tutorial, tier 4 and 5 resources are a good starting point: low risk, playable solo, and the income grows with the time you put in.
Pick one gathering profession. Splitting your fame across several professions slows everything down, while focusing on one progresses much faster.
Gear and food change profit per hour
Gathering gear and food raise the yield of each trip. A better-equipped trip earns more per hour, and the gear pays for itself quickly if you use it regularly.
Gathering fame works in your favor too: as you level the profession, you unlock higher-tier tools and gather more efficiently.
Refine what you gather
Refined resources sell for more than raw ones, and many players only start earning properly once they refine.
Each royal city gives a refining bonus to a single resource type, so refining in the right city returns more material. The guide **Albion Online royal cities and refining bonuses** explains which is which.
Focus, a resource that Premium boosts, can return even more material on each refine.
Sell well and account for taxes
Selling on the market has costs: a sales tax and a fee to place the order. Premium halves the sales tax, so if you sell regularly it can pay off. The exact values change with patches: always confirm them in game.
To know what to sell for, check the Builds Forge **Market**: it shows the lowest sell price by server, tier and enchantment, using the names items have in game.
Measure profit after fees and your own time
The right sum is not just sell price minus buy price:
- Profit = sell price − sales tax − order fee − material cost.
- Divide profit by the hours spent: gathering, travelling, refining and waiting for the sale are time too.
- Count repairs and the gear you risk losing.
A small-margin but fast activity can earn more per hour than a large-margin slow one.
When you have capital: buy and resell
With some silver in reserve, you can buy cheap items in one city and sell them for more in another. You need recent prices, you must count the taxes, and you must be careful when transporting through dangerous zones.

Mistakes that lose silver
- Taking more into red or black zones than you can afford to lose.
- Trusting old prices: prices move through the day.
- Forgetting taxes and fees in the maths.
- Gathering several resource types at once without specialising.
- Spending silver on expensive gear before you have a steady income.
A simple plan in stages
- Stage 1: gather tier 4 and 5 resources in a single profession, in safe zones.
- Stage 2: refine in the city with the right bonus and sell at the best price.
- Stage 3: with capital, try buying and reselling, always measuring profit after fees.
- Stage 4: raise tier and risk gradually, preferably with a group.
