How to gain fame in Albion Online: the best methods
From safe solo combat to group dungeons: how to pick the right fame method for you and how to earn more per hour.
Updated October 2026
Why fame matters
Fame is what makes your character progress. You earn it fighting, gathering and crafting, and you invest it in the Destiny Board to unlock improvements and level the gear you use. Players who earn fame steadily and spend it well advance far faster than those who play at random.
Solo, low risk: solo dungeons
Solo dungeons are the safest starting point for new players: you earn combat fame without risking big losses, and you learn the game.
Corrupted Dungeons are also played solo and give fame, with the bonus of being good PvP practice, because there you face other players.
Solo, higher yield: black zones
For many solo players, the best balance between accessibility and combat fame is open-world mobs in black zones, using cheap gear and a safe exit route.
It is riskier than dungeons, so bring only what you can afford to lose.
Without risking your gear: the Depths
The Depths are a strong option if you do not want to risk your equipment. They are still not risk-free, because your inventory and rewards can be lost.
In a group
In a group, the methods that stand out are:
- Static dungeons in black zones, often cited as the highest fame per hour because they reset quickly.
- Group dungeons, for organised guild groups.
- Non-lethal Hellgates, a lower-risk group option.
- Roads of Avalon, for small coordinated groups.
The Mists and Knightfall Abbey combine fame with objectives, but interference from other players is the main risk.
How to earn more fame per hour
- Look at real fame per hour, not just the number of mobs: travel, deaths, gear cost and time spent looking for content all count.
- Match the dungeon tier to your level.
- Pick a weapon line you will use later, rather than spreading fame across many weapons.
- When an item reaches its fame cap, the excess generates fame you can invest in other trees.
- Some players start with high-damage gear to clear faster and then invest the excess in the gear they actually want to use.
Spend silver only when it pays off
Tomes, the Satchel of Insight and automatic respec help you progress, but they cost silver. Use them only when the cost fits your budget and the fame gain justifies it. To pick the right gear for your method, see the Builds Forge **Meta Builds** and **PvE** builds.
A simple path
- Start in solo dungeons to learn and earn fame without risk.
- Once you have gear and confidence, try black zones with cheap gear.
- Join a group for static dungeons and the Roads of Avalon.
- Focus on one weapon line and invest your fame in a planned way.
